Apostille Norway For Personnel Document: Step-By-Step Process

These are the 4 steps that are included in the Apostille for Norway attestation process for personnel documents:

  • Local Verification
  • Notary Attestation
  • SDM/State Attestation
  • MEA apostille

Let’s discuss every step in detail:

Local Verification  –  Local verification is done by the government authorities or agencies that originally provided the documents. For example:

  • The University or School performs local verification for educational certificates
  • The district court’s registrar performs local verification of divorce certificates
  • The birth Registrar conducts the local verification of birth certificates
  • Driving license is verified by the RTO (Road Transport Office)
  • Local Police or Passport’s office verifies the PCC (Police Clearance Certificate)

Notary Attestation – Before an apostille stamp Norway from MEA India can be obtained, your personnel documents must go through the Notary attestation process. In notary attestation, officials check if your documents contain any mistakes or missing information. If no mistakes are found then officials put a Notary stamp/certificate.

State/SDM Attestation – You can obtain an apostille stamp Norway through either State attestation or SDM (Sub Divisional Magistrate) attestation. Continue reading to know more about State and SDM attestation.

State Attestation – In State Attestation, your documents get attested by the secretariat of the district. Getting an apostille from MEA through state attestation is lengthy and costly. As many government bodies get involved, the process can take up to 30 working days or more to complete. If the country for which you are getting an apostille is not a part of the Hague Nation, then you must go for the state attestation process.

SDM Attestation –  However, if you need an apostille stamp quickly and don’t want to spend a lot of money, then consider Sub Divisional Magistrate attestation. This process takes 3-4 days to complete and is cost-effective due to less involvement of government officials. If you are planning to visit any country that is part of the Hague Nation, then go for SDM attestation only.

MEA Attestation – Once you have obtained authentication from all the above-mentioned authorities, your documents are ready to obtain an apostille from MEA. The Ministry of External Affairs is the designated authority for issuing an apostille in India.
